Hello Everyone!
Here is what I do:
I teach comprehensive driving instruction.
For teenagers, the minimum instruction requirement is 6 hours
by state law over a 6 month minimum time, though the permit is
good for 1 year and can be renewed if necessary.
The basic breakdown of the lessons are:
first 2 hours- basic driving techniques (steering, perspectives,
lines of sight, awareness)
second 2 hours- advanced driving techniques, including but
not limited to- freeway, merging, parking, and increased
awareness.
And the last 2 hours- review of previous instruction, perfection
of techniques, and possibly a review of the requirements for
the driving test.
(just to add- I do have a tendency to break the lessons up
into 4, instead of 3, so that the last lesson is simply a review
of the test and already pre-paid for. I do this quite a bit
because I have found that doing a review close to the drive
test is beneficial for the student. This is not to say that I always
do this, but most often I do.)
For adults, there is no minimum instruction required. Whether
the instruction is for an initial drivers license, or for keeping
an existing license, such as dealing with Drivers Safety and
special permits.
To lastly note, each student is unique. My teaching style adapts
to the individual and their specific needs.
One thing though, that I teach, that is a constant, is to
BREATHE!!!
The more stressed you are the deeper you breathe, this allows
for better focus in stressful situations.
Thank you and Safe Driving!
Sincerely,
Natalie Verheyden
